Bring the Kids!

In an effort to make community events more accessible to families, we are available to work with local groups to provide childcare in order that all participants are welcome and supported regardless of familial status.

We are available for single or recurring events.

Please contact us with some information about your group, the event, and projected childcare needs along with some ideas on how we can work together to develop a welcoming space for children.

Interest Meeting!

Hello everyone!

I wanted to let you know that there will be a Charlottesville Community Childcare interest meeting. (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=215658231822416)

When: Tuesday, September 6th

Where: Clark Hall 102 (on-grounds at UVA)

Time: 6:30 pm

Who: anyone who thinks that kids rock.

Hope to see you there!

In the meantime.

Hello!

I have been away in Brooklyn for the past couple of months and thus have not been able to put the work into this collective that it really needs.  And for that I apologize.  However, I am back in C-ville, and am ready to get back to work to make this collective something great.  I have noticed that this blog gets a fair amount of traffic.  It would be really helpful for me if those of you visiting the site that are interested in getting involved, either as receivers or providers of childcare, would take a few moments to fill out the “Interest Form.”  The effort would be much appreciated and would do a great deal to get this going.  Thanks for your time and I look forward to getting to know you soon!

Philosophy, ctd.

I just wanted to share this (in my opinion) fantastic article.  This is the kind of “schooling” I would like to see become widespread.  I think there are a lot of silly assumptions about kids of all ages built into our school system, and this article challenges a lot of those assumptions.

Let Kids Rule the School

Enjoy!

Debut event!

Charlottesville Community Childcare will be providing child care at an event for the first time this Saturday.  We will be hanging out with kids at the Anarchist Book Fair from 1 – 7 pm, and we cannot wait!  The fair is being held at Random Row Books and the Garage, and we are excited to be able to welcome children to the event.  We also cannot wait to meet lots of other people who may be interested and willing to share ideas.  Perhaps we’ll see you there!  We’ll be the ones covered in paint/chalk and playing with legos.

Welcome!

Welcome to Charlottesville Community Childcare’s blog.  We are a budding free childcare collective in Charlottesville, VA.  Please feel free to peruse the site.  The blog space will be used primarily to post events, meetings, or cool related articles and ideas.  I appreciate input from anyone and everyone, so please feel free to comment or e-mail.  Enjoy!
